In 2012, the Athena Shield established a working committee on honour-based violence composed of representatives from the Montreal and Laval City Police Services, youth centres, representatives from the education system and representatives from the research community.
This valuable collaboration resulted in the development of a shared definition of honor-based violence and a risk assessment tool for honor-based violence. The risk assessment tool for honor-based violence is designed for anyone working with victims and potential victims of honor-based violence, and its purpose is to help them evaluate the potential risk of such violence.
